What this site is not
This is an independent project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Geological Survey, the National Park Service, the National Weather Service or the County of Hawaiʻi. It is not an official warning service. For emergencies, follow Hawaiʻi County Civil Defense and park rangers.
Respect for the place
Kīlauea and Halemaʻumaʻu are sacred in Native Hawaiian tradition. We use Hawaiian place names with their proper spelling and ask visitors to the park to stay on trails, respect closures and leave offerings and rocks where they are.
